Consultative Process

Our Wealth Management Consultative Process generally consists of 5 meetings.

Meeting #1 - Discovery

The first meeting, the Discovery Meeting, is focused on gaining a complete, in-depth understanding of you so that we can make appropriate investment recommendations and later guide a professional network in providing advanced planning recommendations. As we gain this understanding, we begin to build the foundation for a trusting, long-term relationship with you.

Meeting #2 - Investment Plan

In our second meeting, the Investment Plan Meeting, we present you with the first two parts of the wealth management plan, the investment plan and the investment policy statement. We are most focused on the one aspect of your finances that many affluent clients are most concerned about—preserving their wealth.

Meeting #3 - Mutual Commitment

At the Mutual Commitment Meeting, if we agree to work together we will execute all the agreements needed to begin to do so.

Meeting #4 - 45-Day Follow-up

The goal for our 45-Day Follow-up Meeting is to help you understand and organize the financial paperwork that’s been generated following implementation of your investment plan.

Meeting #5 - Regular Progress

Afterwards, your Regular Progress Meetings provide the opportunity to continue to build our relationship while we seek to help maximize the probability of achieving all that is most important to you. At each meeting, we will uncover any changes in the your life—a job change or the birth of a grandchild, for example—that might call for us to make adjustments to the wealth management plan. We will also review your progress to ensure that you are on track toward achieving key goals.

In addition, at your first Regular Progress Meeting, we will present the Advanced Plan. The plan will contain a range of recommendations, each designed to address a specific financial concern. With your approval, we will then begin to implement the plan, focusing first on the action items of highest priority. At subsequent meetings, we will update you on the progress of the recommendations.

Advanced Plan

Your Advanced Plan will deal with the four key areas of your financial life beyond your investments:

  1. Wealth enhancement aims to mitigate tax impact while producing the best possible investment returns consistent with your level of risk tolerance.
  2. Wealth transfer helps find and facilitate the most tax-efficient way to pass assets to succeeding generations in a way that meets your wishes.
  3. Wealth protection aims to protect your wealth against potential creditors, litigants, children’s spouses and potential ex-spouses, as well as protect the client against catastrophic loss.
  4. Charitable giving helps fulfill your charitable goals and can often support efforts in each of the other three areas.

None of these areas stands in isolation from the rest. Wealth protection, for example, is often intertwined with wealth transfer needs. The major advantage of the wealth management plan is that it enables us to deal with each area systematically while maintaining an integrated approach to your overall financial picture.
