Over the past few months we began the journey of raising chickens (among other critters) as a family project. So this past weekend we started building the chicken coop. Through our research, we found that there are so many ideas out there (almost too many) it can be a bit overwhelming trying to decide which way to go. What I realized, is that it is important to first have a vision. The Bible teaches in Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish; but happy is he who keeps the teaching.”
Once you have a vision, it is important to then find the right materials and the right people to help you reach your goal. We got together as a family and took some ideas that each of us liked and developed a final vision. We got the material and asked some of our good friends and family to help us reach our goal. Once you have the resources you need, you then apply the effort it takes to realize the vision. After much effort, we are now well on our way to completing a new home for our 24 hens and 1 rooster.
This process has been a great reminder to me that everything around us was once a vision for someone and that someone took the initiative to make it happen. It also reminded me that many times people do not act on the vision God gives them and it becomes a fleeting memory or something you refer back to and say “I wish……!”
What visions do you have for you and your family and what is stopping you from reaching them?
